IMPORTANT 5 MANDATORY RULES
Applicants will go thru a curation system in order to participate; similar and common to most artist in residence programs. The objective of the curation is solely to prevent any conflicts and/or regrets on either side, and will not in any way be pursued to judge or exclude the applicant’s race, gender or any other attributes that may be considered as a form of discrimination.
All payments must be in advance. We will not reserve your spot unless full payment is completed. Partial payment will not be accepted.
Residents must be fluent in either English and/or Japanese. Use of electronic communication devices for support is welcome, but will not be a substitute.
All visas, insurance(for both medical and property damage), transportation to the Residence shall be prepared by the Resident.
This residency is NOT aimed to be a so-called HOLIDAY. Relaxing to retreat from your daily stressful environment is highly appreciated, however, our goal is for the visitors to find themselves in a (creatively) better place during the stay.
FAQs
Q: I want to know about the daily routines in the countryside.
A: An online guide to daily living and emergency correspondence will be open to all applicants.
Q: Any support getting there?
A: For those traveling via Tokyo, online support is available.
Depending on your schedule, a Tokyo staff will support you personally.
Q: Can I borrow means of transportation?
A: Bicycles are available at the residence. Renting or leasing a car is possible, however will need paperwork and administration in advance. Renting a car is approx. ¥18,000/week~44,000/month. A lease contract is approx. ¥10,000~¥30,000/month. Pls inform at an early stage if you are interested. But, we will warn you in advance that there are no fancy cars (lol) REBORNCARLEASE
Q: Can I have companions or bring with my family along?
A: Companions are allowed, however will be a consideration factor in the curing process. We may need to set some rules in order to make sure you accomplish what you came for.
Q: I want to know the cancellation policy
A: 31 days prior to the first day of stay - no cancellation fee/5 to 30 days : 80% of the accommodation charge/14 days prior to the stay:100%. Accommodation fee will not be refunded even though included services such as Gallery / Studio use are not fully utilized due to the Guest’s preference.
Q: What’s the definition of a “Creator“?
A: We are very open minded of the definition. Artists, designers, writers, musicians, dancers, philosophers…we welcome you all. Also, we will not rule out “working“ during the residency, but we consider the ideal stay is to escape the stress, and sharpen/explore/rediscover/purify/cure…your creativity, regardless of your profession.
Cancellation of Reservation (by MOYA)
MOYA reserves the rights to cancel reservations if:
The Guest is deemed to be breaking the ordinances, moral, hygiene or generally established practices.
Something unavoidable happens, such as natural disaster, serious problems with facilities and other reasons which are outside our control and make it impossible for MOYA to provide accommodation.
The accommodation fee is not paid within the invoice date terms.
An act is committed like stealing or creating a situation of danger for the facilities or their guests, such as smoking in bed, bringing in dangerous materials or tampering with fire fighting equipment, etc.
Responsibilities of MOYA and the Guest during the stay
In the case where MOYA is responsible for being unable to provide a guest room for the Guest, MOYA will arrange for a hotel of equal standards to the best of our ability unless we are unable to do so due to the unavoidable, such as natural disaster, and other reasons which are outside our control.
MOYA will not be held responsible for any accident or theft caused by a Guest not observing the house rules.
If our MOYA’s property is damaged or destroyed due to the Guest’s action or negligence, we reserve the right to collect suitable amount of compensation from the Guest. The guest is responsible for the security of all their personal belongings as well as baggage within the accommodation.
MOYA will not be held accountable/responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
The guest must come insured for any health issues, accidents and property damages for the full duration of the stay. In the event of sickness we will do our best to get help or bringing guest to the hospital if needed.
Behave orderly to the neighbours and the area around the building: no littering, no loud noises or loud music (especially after 8 pm).
No more than 2 people at a time in one room are accepted in the guest room area unless otherwise approved by MOYA beforehand.
The Guests must respect the privacy and well-being of other Guests if the house is being shared.
